study week distraction

Well I had booked myself a study week as I have a final essay to write about Roman and Greek mythology. So in true me style I found other things to do instead of essay writing.

The weather has been lovely lately so I had spent a lot of time on our allotment, I had also decided that we needed new garden furniture. I love anything vintage and girly. I could think of nothing better than sitting in the garden, Sun shining, pretty summer dress on, drinking tea and eating cake. In reality I was in jeans, thick jumper and sat on white plastic furniture at this point.

After a quick look online I found a lovely second hand dining set. It was almost perfect, painted shabby chic style, 2 chairs with arm rests on 2 without, table with drop leaf sides. The only problem was it was an indoor dinning set.... the following day I was sat in the garden at my new table and chairs.

After 2 days I had sanded and painted the set in outdoor paint. Pink legs and cream top, every part with 2-3 coats of paint applied ready for the glorious British climate! Everyone knows you can't have garden chairs without pretty cushions so with some fabric from Dunelm and gingham from a local sewing shop, (Linda Harper), I made some patch work style cushions. I did have some help from my 6 year old daughter she told me exactly how one of them needed to look so of course who am I to disobey her?

Now all we need is a glorious summers day to sit out with a pot of tea and large slice of cake.
